China plans to buy more than 350 aircraft in 2013, so as to improve international competitiveness of China's civil aviation enterprises, said Li Jiaxiang, head of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), in an interview on Dec. 20.

By the end of this year, China has a fleet of 3,238 aircraft, including 1,922 commercial transportation aircraft and 1,316 general aviation aircraft.

Driven by the large demand from air transportation market, the fleet of China's civil aviation expands rapidly. It is learned from the 2013 National Civil Aviation Work Conference on Dec. 20 that in 2013, China's civil aviation sector is expected to transport a turnover volume of 66 billion ton kilometers, and receive up to 350 million passengers and 5.7 million tons of cargo and mail, a year-on-year increase of 8.0%, 9.4% and 4.3% respectively. General aviation flight hours will reach 570,000, an increase of 7% over last year. China's civil aviation sector will invest 150 billion yuan in fixed assets, including 75 billion yuan investment in infrastructure construction.
